All versions of ERPlite enable you to have unlimited users accessing the
datafile at the same time. In a muilti-user environment, each user PC must:
- install the same version of ERPlite (for example each user installs
ERPlite PRO v6467).
- have a version of Microsoft Access (or runtime Microsoft Access) that is
equal to or later than the Microsoft Access version of the datafile (That
is, the users can have any mix of Access 97, 200x as long as the datafile is
in Access 97 format). If the datafile is SQL server or MySQL, then the
users can have any version of Microsoft Access equal to 97 or later.
- have read/write access and create/delete rights to the directory
where the data file is stored.
- have a valid sitekey
- have an open copy of Quickbooks if the user will be reading or writing
to Quickbooks (or use Synergrations (www.synergration.com)
Open Share to access a remote copy of Quickbooks)
Peer-to-Peer Networks
To run ERPlite in a peer-to-peer network, you must have Windows 98 or later
installed on each PC.
Each user computer has its own copy of ERPlite installed. The ERPlite
data file is located on only one computer.
Windows XP users must have at least Standard user rights, and Windows 2000
users must have Power Users Group rights in order to write to the registry keys
and be able to run ERPlite.
Client-Server Networks
Client-server networks have a computer dedicated to sharing files,
printers or other resources. In a client-server network, you will most likely
but the ERPlite datafile on the server in a folder accessible by all computers
that need to use ERPlite.
For best performance, the ERPlite datafile should be in the root directory or
a directory folder (ie don't bury the datafile many levels down the folder
hierarchy). The file server does not need to have ERPlite frontend installed on
it (ie it does not count as a user).
Terminal Server (or Citrix) Network
To run ERPlite in terminal server environment, you must have Windows XP Pro,
Windows 200x Server along with client access licenses for multiple users.
ERPlite is installed on a centralized terminal server PC, and licensed users
from remote locations can user ERPlite without having ERPlite installed on their
remote PC. Windows Terminal Services enables remote users to access ERPlite over
lower bandwidth connections (like VPN or dialup). Since all the processing is
done on the server, network traffic is dramatically reduced (only the
bitmap screens are transferred over the network), resulting in better
performance.
Only Quickbooks Enterprise runs in Terminal Server (ie Quickbooks Pro and
Premier do not run correctly in Terminal Server). Thus, for Quickbooks Pro or
Premier, ERPlite running in Terminal Services must use Synergrations Open Share
to connect to Quickbooks running on a remote PC.
SQL Server or MySQL
Microsoft Access is the database engine for ERPlite PRO. Recommended maximum number of users for ERPlite using Microsoft Access
backend is 15 to 20, depending on transactions per minute. Above, 15 to 20
users, you may see response time increases.
ERPlite can easily be upsized to SQL Server or MySQL for the backend
database engine providing the following benefits:
- scalable to hundreds of users.
- robust database engine (dramatically reduces corruption
repair administrative load).
- stored procedures provide faster query responses
