Multi-user ERPlite  hosted in the Cloud via Microsoft Azure

All versions of ERPlite enable you to have unlimited users accessing the datafile at the same time. There are a variety of ways of installing multi-user ERPlite.  First, the physical (ie non-cloud) methods of creating multi-user ERPlite are described,  to allow easy understanding of the benefits of cloud operation.

Peer-to-Peer Networks

To run ERPlite in a peer-to-peer network, you must have Windows XP or later installed on each PC.

Each user computer has its own copy of ERPlite installed. The ERPlite  data file is located on only one computer.

Client-Server Networks

Client-server networks  have a computer dedicated to sharing files, printers or other resources. In a client-server network, you will most likely put the ERPlite datafile on the server in a folder accessible by all computers that need to use ERPlite.

For best performance, the ERPlite datafile should be in the root directory or a directory folder (ie don't bury the datafile many levels down the folder hierarchy). The file server does not need to have ERPlite frontend installed on it (ie it does not count as a user).

Terminal Server (or Citrix) Network

To run ERPlite in terminal server environment, you must have   Windows 200x Server along with client access licenses for multiple users.  ERPlite is installed on a centralized terminal server PC, and licensed users from remote locations can user ERPlite without having ERPlite installed on their remote PC. Windows Terminal Services enables remote users to access ERPlite over lower bandwidth connections (like VPN or dialup). Since all the processing is done on the server, network traffic is dramatically reduced (only the  bitmap screens are transferred over the network), resulting in better performance.

Quickbooks can be hosted in the same Server as ERPlite.

Host ERPlite in the Internet Cloud via Microsoft Azure

Installing ERPlite in a Microsoft Azure Virtual Machine  has many advantages::

  • No need for a complex inhouse computer network, with an expensive Windows Server 200x PC.
  • No need for inhouse  or consultant IT staff to administer Servers and associated networking.
  • multiple users connect concurrently to ERPlite without the need to install ERPlite, Microsoft Access, and Quickbooks  on every users machine.
  • Use ERPlite from any internet connected PC, anywhere.
  • Spend more time growing your business, rather than managing IT.
