On the Work Orders form, use the Look Up drop-down box to choose the SOxxxx Sales Order that you just created, and then click Go to bring it up. Navigate to the 2.0 WYSIWYG Edit tab. Notice all the rows Control fields look similar to "TCPDXS0K", do NOT edit rows that have a "0" or "Z" control character. Click the COPY WO Line Items button. The Status has now changed to Released.
Example: After going to the Sales Order in Work Orders form, click the COPY WO Line Items button, and all items will be copied. In this example the 10 PRD1000's were copied to the next line with control characters WJ.
Click the Explode Parent Items button. All of the child items of the parent items that have been copied will appear below its respective parent item. In our example using the 10 PRD1000's, the capture below should now resemble your screen.
It is important to note that, in a situation were there are no manufactured subassemblies in stores (inventory location) then their counts are set to zero. In our example the "manufactured" subassemblies or manufactured child items are the ASY0008 and ASY0005 so there quantities need to be set to zero. The easiest way to grasp this concept is to realize that they are the products we are manufacturing, so it is their child items that we are interested in. Refer to the screen shot below for clarification.
2.3 Lets suppose that two PRD1000's have already been assembled and now reside in the stores inventory location. They do not have to be transferred into WIP, because they are a finished product, therefore the copied line of the manufactured part PRD1000 remains at zero (refer to the highlighted cell below in the third snapshot). Our form has to reflect these changes or our picklist will be incorrect. The easiest way to do this is to go to the MRPlite > MRP What if? form and enter the build plan for 8 PRD1000's since two have already been manufactured. The correct quantities could have been derived from our exploded BOM of the PRD1000 as well. Both these forms are displayed below.
2.4 Once you have edited the quantities for the child items your screen should look like the one below.
2.5 Another possibility could be, that there are 5 ASY0008's also in our stores inventory. Now, since these 5 ASY0008 are needed in the manufacturing of the PRD1000's, they have to be pulled from stores. In order to reflect this change, we have to know what child items are contained in the ASY0008. This is accomplished by doing an explosion of the ASY0008. The example below was generated by using the BOM exploder form.
2.6 Arrows are placed beside the children of the ASY0008 who's quantity has been changed. Remember that the ASY0005 is a manufactured subassembly of the ASY0008 so its value stays at zero. Let me guess, you forgot that the ASY0005 is one of our manufactured products. That's ok this concept seems a little confusing at first, but after a few work orders like our example it will become a snap! Two screen captures are shown to display the entirety of the work order.
