Tutorial: Job Costing

Overview

This brief tutorial will explain how costs are tracked through ERPlite, and demonstrate how to calculate job costs for specific projects.

Definitions

PP Number:
PP is an acronym for Project Plan. The PP number is used for tracking costs by Job or Project.
By using the Project Plan Reports form you can track all Purchase orders, Work Orders and Inventory Transfers for the specified project plan (PP#)

How to Track a Job/Project

Purchase Orders, Work Orders, Sales Orders, and Inventory Transfers all have a field called PP# that is used to track the project/job number.

1. Create a purchase order:
• Open the purchase order form:  Switchboard->Mfg Orders->Purchase Order
• Click the new button to create a new purchase order

 

2. Enter the PP#:
• Enter a supplier and an employee
• Select an item
• Use the scroll bar to scroll to the right
• Ender X1 under the PP# column
• Close the purchase order form

 

3. View the Project Plan Report:
• Open the Project/Job Cost Reports form:  Switchboard->Project Plans
• Select X1 from the drop down list
• View the Purchase Orders Report by clicking the button under Purchase Orders
• You should now be looking at a report similar to Figure 1.
